Listen2Kids Divorce Co-Parenting and High-Conflict Divorce Online programs are the result of company founder and CEO Sue Polan's 24 years experience teaching live divorce education classes for the 21st Judicial District.
With her Masters Degree and LPC license, Sue's work experience also includes school counseling, private therapy, working in a pediatric clinic, consulting with 501c3’s on domestic violence, on special needs and on in-home family therapy. Sue has taught parent education classes on grief and loss, parenting the adolescent brain, Parenting from the Heart and gender differences. She has worked for several years with adolescents in bereavement services for the Child and Teen program of HopeWest Hospice, co-creating a group for adolescents with severely ill family members. In 2010 she created the first film of Listen 2 Kids productions with Ed Fortson. This film, “What Parents Need to Know from Kids about Divorce” was constructed from live candid interviews with kids about their perceptions of their parents’ divorce. This film has become popular in divorce education classes throughout the country, and was translated into Spanish. Since that time she has created 6 other films from the point of view of the children. They are: "Illness in the Family; Children Facing Uncertainty," "Grief and Loss; A Child’s Perspective," "Siblings of Autism; The Challenge and the Hope," "I See your Ability; Inclusion in the Classroom" and a new film released June, 2016, "Listen 2 Kids About Divorce." This film is an update of the 2010 divorce film with all new footage. Please visit www.listen2kids.net for additional information and to order these films and support materials. It is important to note that the very most effective teachers of this class are the children whose interviews are interspersed throughout the material. Their wisdom, candidness and sincerity bring the information home. Their credentials include the universality of childhood and they are powerful instructors. |
